Anesthesia and Reanimation

Anesthesia is essentially the absence of sensation it involves preventing a person from feeling pain during surgery with the help of various drugs and methods. Anesthesia not only prevents the person from feeling pain during the surgery but also creates an appropriate environment for the surgeon to work. Anesthesia is administered by anesthesiologist doctors.

Anesthesia Methods

Anesthesia is divided into four groups; general anesthesia, nerve block anesthesia, and local anesthesia. the type of anesthesia to be used is determined by the anesthesiologist based on the patient's general health condition, the presence of accompanying diseases, the type and location of the surgery and sometimes the patients preference.

General anesthesia: This is a method in which consciousness is eliminated with the help of drugs, Initially, consciousness is lost with a drug administered intravenously.

Spinal and epidural anesthesia: These are performed by administering anesthetic substances into the canal through which the spinal cord nerves pass in the lumbar reigon. The patient remains conscious.

Nerve block anesthesia: Particularly used in arm and leg surgeries, the nerves going to the area are numbed to ensure painless surgery in that reigon (for example numbing the main nerve of the arm through the armpit with a needle for hand surgery). The patient remains conscious.

Local anesthesia: Preferably used in surgical interventions on small areas. Only the area where the intervention will be performed is numbed, and the patient remains conscious. The local anesthetic is injected around the surgical area with a syringe to numb the nerved areas. This is also known as infiltration anesthesia.

Important Points

Before anesthesia, the anesthesiologist conducts an interview, physical examination, and tests to determine the surgical risk for each patient. Factors that increase the risk are corrected to ensure the patient is in the best condition for surgery.

During the surgery, various vital signs such as heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, and oxygen levels in the blood are closely monitored by the anesthesiologist, who can immediately intervene with medications for any changes in these parameters.

Additionally, anesthesia and sedation services are provided outside the operating room for patients who cannot tolerate procedures in the ESWL (Lithotripsy Unit), Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, MRI, and Tomography departments. Our hospital provides uninterrupted 24-hour service with anesthesia and reanimation specialist doctors, handling all types of surgial operations.

Moreover; general, reigonal and local anesthesia are applied and painless birth and cesarean sections are performed with Epidural and spinal anesthesia aplications.

Intensive Care

Our general and surgical intensive care units have been authorized to provide the highest level, 3rd level intensive care services, following inspections and controls by the Ministry of Health.

In this special unit where patients with severe physical conditions are closely monitored and vital functions such as repiration and circulation are supported, critical patients are treated.

Our intensive care unit treats patients with severe physical conditions are closely monitored and vital functions such as respiration and circulation are supported, critical patients are treated. Our intensive care unit treats patients with respiratory failure, poisoning, post-operative care needs, complications during surgery, trauma, multiple organ failure, brain death and organ donation, as well as patients with systemic internal problems such as coronary artery disease, severe infections and severe kidney failure.
